Le Général, une oeuvre conçue à partir d'une idée originale de Maestro Nagano, rend hommage au lieutenant-général Roméo Dallaire. Fondée sur une nouvelle interprétation de la musique de Beethoven sur le poème Egmont de Goethe, cette oeuvre originale, écrite par l'auteur, critique et musicologue Paul Griffiths, relate les événements survenus au Rwanda en 1994. En seconde partie du programme, redécouvrez l'incontournable 5e Symphonie de Beethoven et les plus célèbres extraits de Egmont, magnifiquement interprétés par l'OSM et son chef.

Analekta is proud to present the label's first recording with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal under the direction of Kent Nagano. Conceived on the basis of an original idea of Maestro Nagano's, The General offers an entirely new interpretation of Beethoven's Egmont, itself based on a poem by Goethe. Offered as a tribute to Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire, this original work, written by author, critic and musicologist Paul Griffiths - relates the staggering events surrounding the Rwanda crisis in 1994. The second CD includes popular Beethoven's 5th Symphony and excerpts from Egmont, magnificently performed by OSM and its conductor.
