*** Résumé en anglais seulement ***
Anyone who thinks Saint-Saens to be a composer of the merely light or spectacular should encounter his anything but facile chamber music. His First String Quartet, in A minor (1899), has a restless urgency that befits its key, while the Piano Quintet (1855), written at 20, is also a completely serious work, if less mature. Lucchesini plays with brilliant deftness, while the Cremona Quartet demonstrate their trademark combination of Italianate flair and immaculate ensemble.
